Duplicate Schema

I added a field to one of my tables. Downloaded a new schema and uploaded. The upload went fine and the new field shows on my entry form. The PUT action fails. When looking at the schema listing I see the same schema listed twice with the exact same name including case.

Can I simply delete the old schema?

How are duplicates possible?
