Simple Steps to Update Employee Onboarding Workflows with the 2020 W-4 Form

In 2020 the IRS rolled out a new version of Form W-4. Normally, updating a mapped PDF is as simple as uploading the new PDF template. The 2020 W-4 has very different fields and calculations from prior versions, so a different method is needed - but we've made it easy!

Simple Steps to Update your Employee On-boarding Workflow

Follow these three quick steps to update your Employee Onboarding Workflow with the 2020 W-4.

If you have an EOB with workflows pending, please contact your Client Services Implementation Manager to discuss the best approach for updating your workflow.

1. Download our free 2020 W-4 Form template, Upload it into your Application (v9.0) or Project (Cloud).
2. Edit your Employee Onboarding Workflow (be sure to follow these best practices.)
3. Drag-and-drop the 2020 W-4 Form into your workflow. Edit the controls, rules and mapping as needed, then delete your old W-4 step.
   • For example, the template provided includes controls like Name and Address. If you collect that info in another step of your workflow, you can delete those controls in the W-4 step, delete or edit rules that reference them, and update the PDF mapping to your controls.

These templates are only available for Live Forms v9.0 and later. If you are using an earlier version, we recommend upgrading to v9.0 to enjoy all of the latest features including this free template.
